My husband found you last night and said I had to watch this. So I did…W.O.W.! Even though I am not in those kinds of businesses. I found ways to use his suggestions for my B&B In Cumberland Gap, my Aviation Parts mfg. businesses I have had for 20 yrs and now we are opening a bar/dance hall. I will be taking the principles of his plans and using them in all of them…IE – the number one thing – Get UP and greet your customer…Show off what you have – make suggestions for extra sales…we haven’t pushed our custom mugs, homemade jams etc…we will now. I love his attitude “YOU are the competition, not – you need to beat your competition”. We had dropped our prices to be the lowest in the B&B when we opened 2 yrs ago, but after working on bringing it up to where it needed to be, we are now the highest and the best and we get the bookings. People will pay more for Quality and Service…
Customer Service is F.R.E.E. and should be No. 1 policy for any company. I have always said…if its not coming out of your pocket – and you can – give it to them! He went in there and fixed their attitudes and showed them a real sales process and made the owner accountable and caused a vision of success.
Comment by Bobby Compton Yes, in more recent times many dealers are out of business, no fault of their own. In this case the dealer needed change, and the business is salvageable. I think it's outstanding that one of our own in the Automotive industry took the initiative to sell Nat Geo on creating a positive reality T.V. show that demonstrates to America not only is there hope, but solution to a failing business and or economy. Grant pulled of the big picture, and I know there will be more to come. I love it!

I did not see the show because I do not have the cable package that gives you 750,000 channels I only have 150,000 channels and I only watch 63 of them. We need to get him on like A&E or Bravo or Discovery or Disney. I think Grant is Great and would watch the show and even pay for it on OnDemand.
Comment by Mike Myers I've worked in failing dealerships and currently work for a very prosperous dealer. And I have to say, it all comes down to 3 things: PROCESS | ACCOUNTABILITY | ATTITUDE. It's so easy to lose sight of these, but necessary. I give credit to the Straub brothers for exposing themselves on national TV to dealers across the country and being the example that even dealers who may have lost their way can still succeed and be profitable. Great job Grant, and the Straub’s!
Comment by Dennis Galbraith This is the most useful business show I've ever seen! I recommended it to the entire sales team of my motorcycle rental client as well. I'd like the show to go into some operations and marketing issues. However, sales and customer service are the biggest problems for most small businesses, and the former is the only one that will deliver a quick financial turnaround. Many shows of this nature manufacture drama, but the resistance shown in these episodes was very similar to what many of us see all too often on Main Street.

As far as action plans, Grant really boils it down to basics (like we knew he would), drives home the simplicity, of the process, and gets his hands dirty for the implementation. I often have friends or relatives come and "secret-shop" my dealership; just to be sure that what happened to Grant doesn't go on here. These were so serious "old-school" car guys, who needed to be nudged into the 21st century. Grant did a good job and it looks like they might be taking some suggestions.-Feaz
